Video:Man caught on CCTV drowning his stepdaughter in a hotel pool, sentenced to 100 years in prison

A man, identified only as Jose David N, was caught throwing his 3-year-old stepdaughter in a hotel swimming pool in Mexico multiple times, causing her to drown. This happened on the 12th of August 2015 while the little girl's mother was sleeping in their hotel room. Shocking surveillance footage which caused outrage in Mexico when released, showed David N throwing the girl into the water at a hotel in the city of Morelia, Michoacan in August 2015.

She is seen battling to keep herself afloat, while the murderer stands at the side of the pool doing nothing. The helpless little girl could not swim, and others around did nothing to try and save her. At one point he throws her in and walks away before returning and tossing her back in when she is fully-clothed.

He then held her tiny body in such a position that she was unable to breathe. He later threw a flotation device at her even though he knew she wouldn't be able to reach it.

The girls mother, who is a nurse, did not realize her child was dead until she saw the lifeless girl in front of the TV and rushed her to hospital. She died a short time later. Autopsy showed she died from secondary drowning.

The mother claimed she did not know her daughter was being mistreated until she saw the shocking video clips. The stepfather was arrested, detained by the police and arraigned in court.

After deliberation, judges Juan Salvador Alonso Mejia, Ana Lilia Garcia Cardona and Noe Reyes Millan found him guilty of aggravated murder. Although the defence had tried to suggest that the little girl had died outside the pool and not in the water, this was rejected by the judges. He has also been been jailed without a chance of parole.

President Buhari Says FG Will Welcome UN as Negotiator for Proposed Swap of Abducted Chibok Girls with Boko Haram Terrorists

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria will welcome intermediaries from the United Nations (UN) on the proposed swapping of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls with Boko Haram Terrorists held in custody.

The president made the proposal at a meeting with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York.

The  President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed Buhari’s position in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

The president said the decision to welcome the UN was to show the administration’s commitment to get the girls released.

He said the government was willing to bend over backward  to get the Chibok girls released from captivity.
Buhari, however, noted that “The challenge is in getting credible and bona fide leadership of Boko Haram to discuss with. The split in the insurgent group is not helping matters. Government had reached out, ready to negotiate but it became difficult to identify credible leaders. We will welcome intermediaries such as UN outfits, to step in.”

The president reiterated that the teachings of Boko Haram were far from being Islamic, as neither Islam, nor any other religion, advocated hurting the weak and innocent.
“The fact that they kill men, women, children, and other people wantonly, and shout ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is great) shows that they do not know that Allah at all. If they did, they would not shed innocent blood,” Buhari said.

He thanked Ban for the moral and material support given to Nigeria, which had enabled the country to surmount many of its challenges.
In his response, the UN Secretary General congratulated Buhari on the anti-corruption war of his administration.
“You are highly respected by world leaders, including myself. Your persona has given your country a positive image.”
He said the UN recognised the achievements of Buhari’s administration against Boko Haram and urged that “human rights be upheld always to prevent a repeat of the scenario being witnessed in Syria.”
Ban also thanked the Nigerian leader for his commitment to issues on climate change, adding that the government should “own the Sustainable Development Goals,” for the good of the citizens.

Beauty hack

So many of us who are very conscious of staying in shape at all times are usually obsessed with working out. With this, we spend more time at the gym undergoing one training or the other. Well, beauty conscious ladies will tell you that you can leave the gym looking fresh.
If after working out and you’ve got just twenty to thirty minutes to get ready before work stresses you out, then learn all of the tricks that would help you clean up quickly right here.

Here are the top five gym beauty hacks to get you set in ten minutes;
1. DIY a shower cap: If you’ve got no shower cap at the gym, well, there’s no problem. Quickly grab those plastic bags most gyms supply for dirty clothes and wrap it around your head to keep the water off. A dry towel turned to turban works as well.

2. Just wash your bangs: Even when your hair is a bit sweaty, don’t wash it yet. Instead, work with the texture and grit that the dirty hair gives you. Leaving it wavy in these situations is also essential. To make sure it looks clean, leave out the front bangs and rinse the section with shampoo, conditioner, and water. Then blow dry with a round brush. You can pull the rest back into a low ponytail or bun if you’re really self-conscious about it.

3. Take off mascara residue: Quickly get rid of mascara and eyeliner smudges without makeup remover by simply dabbing on a bit of face lotion with a cotton swab and gently rubbing it on the area. It should work like a cold cream and take the smears right off.

4. Play up your eyes: If you notice that your cheeks are still red at the gym, try avoiding a bright lip. It can draw more attention to your rouge cheeks. Instead, play up your eyelashes by curling and prepping them. Follow with your favorite black mascara, wiggling it in between your lashes so it looks like eyeliner.

5. Skip the bronzer:
Knowing full well that powders can stick to dewy skin and looks awkward, you should go for a creamy contouring stick instead. This will give you a bronzed look while melting into your skin.
